With more than 1,800 modern streetcars in operation, Alstom has safely and successfully completed over 600 million miles and transported nine billion passengers all over the world. The company’s ground-level power supply technology will be used for Miami Beach’s modern streetcars, and will operate without a catenary along the entire streetcar track. Coined “cantenaryless”, this streetcar combines energy-efficient technology with a design focused around customer safety, comfort and, aesthetics. Alstom’s GPS powered vehicles (almost 200 vehicles in operation with more than 13 million miles completed) are successfully running in the following cities:

  • Reims, France
  • Bordeaux, France
  • Angers, France
  • Orleans, France
  • Tours, France
  • Dubai, UAE
  • Rio, Brazil

Alstom’s ground-level power supply is a proven and well-documented technology that offers efficient, safe, and reliable power supply to modern streetcar systems all across the world. GMTP has proposed using this ground-level power supply and Alstom’s 100% catenaryless technology for Miami Beach’s modern streetcar. The cities below have selected Alstom’s catenaryless streetcars – the same technology as that proposed for Miami Beach.
